Brussels representation bureau
Since February 2004, the National Union of County Councils from Romania has opened a permanent office, so that it may be able to represent its interests in front of the European institutions and actors. Since October 2005, the 41 county councils, members of the association, have decided to extend the premises of the Brussels Office.
Within the framework of the European Office, the National Union of County Councils from Romania tries to:
- Promote the values and European partnerships, as a key instrument of the integration;
- To provide its members all the relevant information, in an open and rapid manner;
- To promote, sustain and represent the interest of its members in front of the European Union’s institutions and actors;
- To receive delegations from the member states for short periods for theoretical and practical training;
- Contribute to the understanding of the European Union’s agenda as well as different policies and programs that have an impact on local and regional communities;
- Develop partnerships with different European actors:
- Associations and entities of the territorial collectivities;
- NGOs;
- Academic area;
- Private firms etc.
The representative of Ilfov County at the National Union of County Councils from Romania in Brussels has a triple role:
- To represent the county at European level, to find European partners for the projects of local and regional interest and to present the appealing activities from Ilfov County to the homologues from other regions represented in Brussels;
- To participate in common activities within the framework of the National Union of County Councils from Romania in Brussels;
- To get professional training through participation at seminars, conferences and work visits, mainly in the field of attracting European funds and writing projects for the granting of European funds.
